Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist
You choose a pediatric dentist for the same reason you take your children to a pediatrician - specialized training in pediatric health needs. A pediatric dentist is more than someone who just loves to work with children. Pediatric dentists complete a two-year residency program after dental school. This training includes specialized instruction and hand-on training in pediatric dental care including growth and development, behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, early detection and intervention of orthodontic problems and dental care for special needs children. Only pediatric dentists who have completed an American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry accredited residency program can be called pediatric dentists and offer specialty care to children. What to Expect at the First Visit?
Our offices are fun and unique! After being greeted by our staff member, your child will be escorted back to the clinical area. Although parents are not permitted to accompany their child to the clinical area, we will be happy to take the parents back to "peek" once their child is settled in the chair and the hygienist is working her magic! Dentistry requires a lot of cooperation from a child and, from our experience, children will be more cooperative if we limit the number of adults giving them instructions. The clinical area is an open bay design so that children can see and visit with other children receiving treatment. We find this approach provides a great learning environment.
Radiographs will be taken if needed and teeth are "tickled" by the hygienist and "counted" by the doctor. Your child's treatment recommendations (if any) will be presented along with a written treatment plan. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Your child's next appointment will be scheduled before you leave.

Transferring into our Practice?
Please bring Radiographs from your previous dentist. We will not be able to provide an accurate assessment of decay without current radiographs. If the radiographs are not available, current or of acceptable quality, we will take new radiographs and you will incur the charge.
Although we are specialists, we are primarily dental care providers for your child. Therefore, if your child is referred to us for treatment, we would like to continue to see them for subsequent cleaning appointments/exams until all their permanent teeth are present. This policy allows us to establish a relationship with your child so if more treatment is required and/or they have a dental emergency, they are comfortable receiving treatment in our office. It also allows us to follow your child's dental development as they grow.
